Quartz Carpet Commercial Flooring Highlights

Quartz Carpet is a resilient, decorative stone covering for internal and external surfaces in both residential and commercial spaces. It’s made from natural quartz stones which are bound together with specialised resin to create a hard coating suitable on floors, walls and joinery. The Quartz Carpet range was invented in Belgium, presenting options for various colour and stones sizes so you can customise your result.

As it’s highly resistant to wear, impact, and and abrasion; this flooring solution is often used in areas where both aesthetics and durability are essential. Showing off its range of applications, here are all the different places where it’s been installed — from prestigious car showrooms to healthcare clinics and homes.

Luxury Car Dealerships and Showrooms

Holding up perfectly under vehicle weight, the Quartz Carpet system has been used throughout many Audi and Mercedes dealerships across Melbourne — a surface that exudes luxury while also providing superior performance, just like the cars themselves.

Aesop

Aesop stores have become renowned in the design industry as the benchmark for exceptional retail interiors. From New York to Paris (and of course its hometown Melbourne), every Aesop store is completely unique — designed by local architects to honour the community, culture, and history specific to each city.

We’re proud to have installed X-Bond at the Aesop store in Paddington. Although this article is about flooring, we couldn’t resist showing off this amazing space. Designed by Clare Cousins Architects, it references all the colours and textures of Sydney's beloved swimming spots. Quartz Carpet was installed to the walls and joinery in a brilliant, custom grey-green colour to resemble a pebbly cave.

Offices: Australia Post, Australian Red Cross, Tabcorp, Real Estate.Com and more

Most commercial office buildings are high-traffic areas, which means many people come through their doors every day. A company headquarters often represents thousands of people, requiring facilities that are versatile and stylishly-appointed — including meeting rooms, workspaces, conference areas, and communal hubs. We installed Quartz Carpet flooring at offices all over Melbourne.

FY Smile Dental

Unlike traditional flooring options that require grout lines or seams, Quartz Carpet is applied seamlessly, providing a smooth and continuous surface. At FY Smile, this achieved one continuous floor coating from the reception area to the clinic rooms. At the dentist, hygiene is obviously a top concern. Quartz Carpet is easy to maintain, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for attending patients.

Educational Institutions: Deakin University, Victoria University and more

Educational institutions are frequented by literally thousands of students. This calls for strong, sensible flooring materials that won’t deteriorate over the years. In many commercial spaces, longevity is a key concern. Since clients are dealing with large floor plans or might rely on government funding to operate, they can’t afford to make repairs often. Quartz Carpet rarely needs to be repaired — provided it’s maintained according to the product guidelines. Unless there’s severe impact (we’re talking heavy duty damage) it should remain pristine forever.

Alternative Surfaces Offices

We love Quartz Carpet so much, we even installed it in our own offices. Stone floor coatings are a popular choice in offices because they’re so low-maintenance. Regular sweeping and mopping (or vacuuming if you prefer) are all you need to keep it in good shape — which makes life easy for commercial cleaning teams.

Looking for flooring materials that are quick and easy to install?

The installation of quartz carpet flooring has a much quicker timeline and is ultimately easier than traditional surfacing materials. Based on a project size of 100 square metres, Quartz Carpet takes 3-5 days to install (depending on the substrate and area of application). It involves the following steps:

  1. Surface Preparation: The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of cracks. Any imperfections should be repaired, and a primer may be applied to improve adhesion.

  2. Mixing: The quartz stones are mixed with the resin binder according to the manufacturer's specifications. This mixture must be prepared carefully to ensure a consistent finish.

  3. Application: Using a hand trowel, the quartz-resin mixture is applied to the prepared surface. It’s spread evenly and carefully to create a smooth, seamless finish.

  4. Curing: The flooring must cure for a specified period to allow the resin to harden and bond with the quartz stones — this is usually a few hours. This process ensures the durability and strength of the finished surface. Do not wash the floor for the first week after application, not even with water. This allows sealers to dry/cure completely.

  5. Finishing: Once the flooring has cured, a topcoat may be applied to enhance the surface's durability and/or appearance (depending on whether you’ve specified the internal or external permeable quartz).

Applications of Quartz Carpet flooring

Quartz carpet flooring is highly versatile and can be used in various settings, including:

  • Residential Interiors: Most commonly applied in garages, bathrooms, hallways, and the laundry — but also very suitable for living and dining areas.

  • Commercial Spaces: Perfect for retail stores, offices, hotels, and restaurants, quartz carpet flooring offers a durable and attractive solution that can withstand heavy foot traffic.

  • Outdoor Areas: Due to its weather-resistance, non-slip properties, and permeable options, quartz carpet flooring can be installed in gardens, pool surrounds, balconies and public walkways.
