X-Bond Maintenance
To keep your floors from Alternative Surfaces in a good, maintained condition please follow the below maintenance procedures.
There are two different X-Bond sealers, Satin Stone (surface-mounting) and Natural Shield (penetrating) and the methods in which they are maintained are different. For this reason, all instructions should be read prior to any maintenance. If you are unsure of which method should be used, please contact your installer.
Floors:
To keep your X-Bond floors in a good, maintained condition please follow the below maintenance procedures.
Do not wash X-Bond surface for the first week after application not even with water. This allows sealers to dry/cure completely.
Cleaning of the surface can vary depending on the contents of material spilled, foot traffic from dirt or pavement. Microfibre Cleaners and most household, commercial & industrial detergents may be used. Avoid detergents with a solvent-based acetone of a concentrate exceeding 50 %.
Satin Stone sealed surfaces: Stone Soap and all common disinfectants can be used as per manufacturer’s instructions. In external areas simply hose down or use low- or high-pressure washing equipment.
Natural Shield sealed surfaces: Low abrasive detergents or Stone Soap can be used as per manufacturer’s instructions. In external areas simply hose down or use low- or high-pressure washing equipment.
Felt protectors on furniture will reduce scratching to the surface. Workstation mats are recommended to prevent desk chair damage.
Walk-off mats and rugs in high traffic areas and at the entrances will catch dirt before it reaches the floor. If using rubber products such as rubber backed mats or rubber floor protectors, please lift to clean underneath regularly to ensure there is no moisture left underneath it.
Keep the floors free of any sand, grit or larger debris, as these can be abrasive to the surface.
A clean microfiber dust mop is very effective at removing dirt on X-Bond surface.
Clean up all spills and semi-solids as soon as possible. Some liquids (for example nail polish remover, citrus, urine, oil) can stain your surface and need to be removed as quickly as possible.
Steam mops are not recommended as they could discolor the finish.
Showers, Walls & Joinery:
To keep your X-Bond shower recess, walls and joinery in a good, maintained condition please follow the below maintenance procedures.
After each shower use, rinse down any soap, shampoo or conditioner residue.
Clean showers with soft bristle brush and low abrasive detergents – avoid detergents with a solvent-based acetone of concentrate exceeding 50%.
Clean up spills immediately and rinse detergents thoroughly.
Using tanning products, coloured shampoo, hair dye or body oils is not recommended as they can penetrate the surface and stain. If used, be sure to wash or wipe down any residue immediately.
Do not place hot objects, prepare food or use knives directly on X-Bond surface.
